Let me remind all; this is with _SMP_ kernel only, with a regular kernel
it makes the module and loads it fine.

Anyone aware of this problem?

Umm...why are you using OSS for emu10k instead of ALSA?

Because it supports the /app/emu-tools-0.9.4/ option.

default has rear end speakers but it is not "surround"/5.1/etc/

./emu-script (loads rear-end speaker support for surround + AC3 option,
ALSA does *NOT* have AC3 capability))

Do you use an SMP kernel?
Works for me too when kernel is compiled with UP, not SMP.
Have you tried w/SMP on an SMP or P4+w/HT box?
