This didn't get pulled into clean-files.

clean-files-$(CONFIG_HEADER_TEST) += $(patsubst %.h,%.header_test.c,$(header-test-y))
?

Not enough. Nor is clean-files-y +=...

And it should also be put into the global gitignore I think.
