Oh, I forgot the system specifications:

- dual opteron on tyan S2882 board
- vanilla linux-2.4.26

Also, is acpi relevant? It is enabled in the kernel-configuration and the the 
kernel prints quite a lot of error messages when it parses the dsdt.
