Intel chooses not to support its HECI/QPS Chip in Linux?

Hi,

Anyone from Intel that reads LKML, could you provide an update as to what 
is happening with support for your HECI Controller/QPS chip, which is used 
on 965 (and possibly other?) chipsets.

I bought an Intel board, thinking everything would be supported, because 
it is an Intel board.  The board is an Intel DG965WHMKR.  Is Intel 
changing its values around open source?  Digging around, one will read 
something regarding Intel loads a special piece of code in the firmware of 
the chip.  Seems anti-open-source to me.  I believe a lot of people are 
interested in viewing their temperature of their chipsets, cpu, etc within
Linux, currently this is not possible.

What if any other types of motherboards are really fully supported in 
Linux these days?  Suffice to say, I am a bit surprised Intel has been 
quietly ignoring this for quite some time now.

I am not from Intel, but the article at

says

"Please note that currently the HECI driver is available for windows OS
and it will be made available on Linux OS in a future release."

Nice that it will be made available on Linux in the future, but I
  feel somewhat let down here, Intel.  Your support for your wireless
  and graphics chips on Linux is what has made you a top contender for
  my hardware purchases.

I asked the right folks and the word I got was "Soon". The code we have
needs some major cleanups before it's suitable for lkml posting... but
it'll be there soon. We're working on the cleanups full time.... We'll
send an update when we're further along

It has been > 1 month since this last e-mail, I was wondering if anyone in 
the community [or Intel] could provide an update?  I spoke with one of the 
lmsensors the other day and he stated that there may be a plan to 
incorporate the CPU temperature soon, depending on what Intel does/what 
they provide.

Are we any closer to getting full HECI support in the kernel today than 
last month?
