(no-one with a g965 mobo who uses the serial port?)
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out a problem that I have with 2 different
motherboards. Both have the Intel G965 chipset, an Intel DG965WH and a
Gigabyte 965G-DS3. What happens is, that datacommunication, either
through normal receiving bytes and via fiddling with signalling lines
(for a dcf-77 radio clock) don't work. To be honest I used a vendor
kernel, a Debian 2.6.22-3-amd64 image.
Is this a known problem?

I do.
The typical problem is to use the wrong connector -- there
are three different ones floating around, but all fit on the
same pins on the motherboard.
Has nothing to do with Linux of course, but I suppose this
becomes more and more linux-random-talk anyways.

I am using the on-board serial port of a Intel DQ965GF board for
ongoing test and development of the ser_gigaset driver, which is
implemented as a line discipline on top of the standard serial
driver. The port works purrfectly fine, including non-trivial
use of the modem control lines. I'm sure I would have noticed
any existing problems by now.
